Liz called me a few months ago with a simple question, "Can we climb on our wedding day? It is our favorite thing to do together, and it would be so meaningful if we could spend our elopement climbing and camping under the stars."

My answer, "Yes. Emphatically, yes."

So, we began planning. We went back and forth a few times. They were considering Siurana, Spain;  Jujuy, Argentina; or Red Rocks, Nevada. Ultimately they decided on Red Rocks because of the time of year, and because it was super meaningful; they had taken their first trip as a couple  to Red Rocks in 2018. Martin confided that it was the first time he knew that Liz was going to be his wife someday.

They picked out a few routes they wanted to climb and set up their tent in the park the night before so that they could get an early start. Liz said she didn't sleep at all because she was too happy watching stars fall form the sky as they sipped a bottle of mead they had made together for just this occasion. "It was simply magic," she told me.  Sounds like it to me!

In the morning, Martin made them both coffee as the sun rose and turned the desert into a rainbow of predawn light. They were the first on the multi pitch route they were ascending together, and they paused every hour or so to look at each other and yell, "It's our wedding day!" A lone boulderer heard them and cheered.

In the afternoon, I picked up their pre-prepared lunch and brought it to the park. After a lovely lingering picnic, we spent the afternoon exploring a few canyons. They found the very route they had first climbed together in 2018 and decided it was the perfect location to say their vows. Still in their climbing shoes, they pulled out their leather bound notebooks and laughed and cried and whispered together.

Afterwards, they headed back to town, where a few of their closest friends were waiting at their Airbnb for them to celebrate. They had a delicious catered Italian meal and spent the night toasting the best day of their lives.

For an incredible and meaningful experience, consider a climbing elopement. Spend the day simply, do what you love, leave the planning to me. Tell me your favorite routes, and I will help turn your dream into your wedding day.
